The Bank Deck

Not exactly an adventure of Danimal... But an ongoing part of my life that I must share.  For the past three years I've lived in the cozy ski town of Breckenridge.  In a little nest above a bank two blocks off Main St. sits my humble yet magnificent abode.  "The Bank" as most refer to it, is humble in it's carpets, bathroom and fixtures, yet wonderful in that it is home to the best deck in Breckenridge.  The deck is arguably the size of the apartment and has hosted infinite instagram-worthy views.  Here is a sampling from the deck.

Yosemite

my beautiful family, Yosemite Falls

Recently the Crawford crew visited Yosemite NP.  As a group of four we've actually seen a good portion of jaw dropping places.  Yosemite is on another level.  The sky is bluer, the grass is greener, the air is crisper... all sprinkled with the largest granite outcroppings on the planet.  To put things in simple terms, Yosemite is the most beautiful place I have ever been.

Each day we played the "who can spot a cloud first wins" game.  Usually someone would win by 4 or 5pm.  Not bad.

We spent a full day wandering around the Yosemite Valley floor.  Seeing all of the most notable sites:  Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls.  I must say my favorite was the Merced River just happily winding around throughout the valley.  Cold, clear untouched water.

One afternoon we spent fly fishing on the Merced.  My pappa being the fish slayer that he is, caught a beautiful brown trout first cast. Literally.  Barbless, dry fly.  Yes, my pappa is the man.  I attempted to mimic his effortless feat, still never catching a fish on a fly rod at the time.  I about threw the fish-less rod across the river in frustration... But it's okay, my sister caught her first trout on a fly rod within minutes.  Nonetheless I spent the afternoon baking my pale Colorado skin.  Not a bad place hang out with my favorite people on the planet.

A side trip on our way out of the park was quite the surprise... We visited Mariposa Grove with no intensions beyond stretching our legs on our 5 hour drive.  A pleasant surprise... We spent some time stating up at the largest trees on earth, far larger than I could have ever imagined.  Pictures don't quite do them justice.

Already can't wait to visit Yosemite again.  Hmm where to on the next Crawford family adventure?

Sapphire Point

one of my friends
Let me tell you a little bit about my favorite place to escape.  Someplace windy... A place where the chipmunks instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano.  I'm talking about a little place called Sapphire Point.

Perched atop Swan Mountain Road you can visit some of the most curious and hungry creatures on the planet.  Ground squirrels, chipmunks, birds... All will eat from your hand if you're into that.  Which I so happen to be.  You will feel warm and happy inside.  I tend to keep sunflower seeds in my car for emergency Sapphire Point pit stops.

Welcome!

Today begins my journey to document the silly, crazy and tasty things in my life.  In the past I never quite found the time or energy to devote to a blog.  A recurring knee injury quiet start to the summer has allowed me to play a little catch up on a few things I can share.  I know I couldn't have done this with without a little inspiration... Shout out to my homegirl, Ashley, and her wonderful blog.  Thank you for joining me, enjoy!

Love, Danimal
